A Summer Love Story by the Lake: Leon & Amber’s Wedding Ceremony at Eden Grange

There are some wedding ceremonies that stay with you long after the confetti has settled, and Leon and Amber’s beautiful summer wedding at Eden Grange in County Durham was certainly one of those.

From the very beginning, it was clear that this was a couple who wanted their ceremony to be more than just a formality. They wanted it to tell their story, celebrate their family, remember those who couldn’t be there, and create moments that felt completely personal to them.

And that is exactly what we did.

With the stunning lake as their backdrop, Eden Grange provided the most perfect setting for their outdoor wedding ceremony. Surrounded by the people they love most, Leon and Amber prepared to make their promises to each other in a setting that felt calm, beautiful, and completely fitting for the start of their next chapter together.

As guests arrived and took their seats, the ceremony began with a wonderful and thoughtful idea from Leon and Amber. Everyone was invited to take a selfie and send it to the couple, allowing them to experience their wedding day from the eyes of their guests.

It was such a lovely way to capture the emotions and excitement of the day — the smiles, the happy tears, and the moments happening around them that they may otherwise have missed. A beautiful reminder that a wedding isn’t just about the couple; it’s about all the people who have been part of their journey and who came together to celebrate their love.

Before Amber made her entrance, there was another incredibly personal moment waiting for Leon.

A voice note from Amber began to play, giving him the chance to hear her words before he saw her walking towards him. It was a heartfelt and emotional start to the ceremony, creating a moment that was just for them.

After her bridesmaids had made their way down the aisle, Amber appeared, walking alongside her dad. As she made her way towards Leon, there was a beautiful mix of excitement, emotion, and anticipation. A moment where all the planning, preparation, and dreaming of this day became reality.

One of my favourite parts of creating a wedding ceremony is telling the couple’s story. Those little moments that brought them from where they started to standing together on their wedding day.

And Leon and Amber’s story began in the most unexpected of places: Leon’s dad’s tattoo shop.

It was there that their paths crossed, and as they got to know each other, their relationship began to grow. Sometimes it’s the smallest details that become the memories you treasure most, and for Leon and Amber, one of those early memories was sharing a bag of Haribo sweets together. A simple moment that became part of their story.

Their ceremony was filled with meaningful touches that reflected who they are as a couple and as a family.

One of those moments was their beautiful rose ceremony. An empty chair had been reserved for those who couldn’t be there with them in person, but who were very much present in their hearts. Members of Amber’s family placed white roses onto the seat as a special tribute, creating a moment of remembrance and love.

It was a gentle reminder that although some people may not have been physically present, they remained an important part of their lives and their wedding day.

Leon and Amber chose to share their own personal vows with each other, making promises that came directly from their hearts. Hearing couples express their love in their own words is always such a special part of a ceremony. There is something incredibly meaningful about hearing two people speak openly about what they love about each other and the promises they want to make for their future.

Their boys also played a very special role throughout the ceremony.

Carter and Dexter proudly became the ring bearers, bringing the wedding rings forward ready for their mum and dad to exchange. Their youngest son, Jax, also had an important responsibility, making sure those rings were placed on and, most importantly, nice and tight!

Including their children in the ceremony made the day even more meaningful and was a beautiful reflection of the family they have built together.

The family involvement continued with the signing of their commemorative certificate, where Leon and Amber invited their two mums to join them as witnesses. It was another lovely way to include the people who have supported them throughout their lives and celebrate the important role family plays in their story.

Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for…

With their promises made, rings exchanged, and their ceremony complete, it was time to introduce them as Mr and Mrs Young.

And what better way to begin married life than walking back down the aisle surrounded by cheers, smiles, and a wonderful flurry of confetti?

It was the perfect ending to a ceremony that was full of love, laughter, emotion, and personal touches.

From the opening selfie surprise, to Amber’s voice note, their Haribo beginnings, the beautiful rose ceremony, their heartfelt vows, and the involvement of their boys and mums, every element of Leon and Amber’s ceremony reflected who they are and what matters most to them.

This is exactly why I love being a celebrant. Every couple has a story, and every story deserves to be told in a way that feels completely unique.

It was an absolute honour to stand with Leon and Amber at Eden Grange and bring their love story to life.

Congratulations, Leon and Amber. Thank you for trusting me to be part of such a special day. Wishing you both a lifetime filled with love, laughter, adventures, and many more happy memories together.
