Hello! I’m Ria Gilchrist, a passionate celebrant based in North Yorkshire. My journey to becoming an independent celebrant has been shaped by years of experience in the hospitality industry, my time as a ceremonies assistant for North Yorkshire Council, and most importantly, my love for creating truly memorable moments for others.
A Background in Hospitality & Event Management
Before I joined the Council, I spent many rewarding years working in hotels throughout North Yorkshire. During that time, I planned and managed a wide variety of occasions—everything from weddings and christenings to wakes and milestone celebrations. Handling the logistics of each event taught me the value of meticulous planning, genuine care for clients, and a keen eye for the small details that make every gathering feel special.
From Council Ceremonies to Independent Celebrant
After honing my skills in the hotel industry, I continued my journey as a ceremonies assistant for North Yorkshire Council, where I helped coordinate and oversee hundreds of ceremonies—from intimate vow renewals to grand wedding celebrations. Those years were an incredible learning experience that solidified my belief in the power of a well-crafted ceremony. Eventually, I felt called to share my expertise in a more personal way, which led me to establish Celebrate with Ria. Now, I get to help couples and families mark their most precious moments with warmth, flexibility, and a truly personal touch.
Family Life & Community Involvement
Outside of my work, I’m proud to be a wife to my wonderful husband, Craig, and a loving mother to our two energetic boys. Family has always been at the heart of everything I do, and it’s one of the reasons I connect so deeply with those planning baby namings, weddings, and even funerals that honour a loved one’s memory.
In our local community, I’m also a much-loved Beaver Leader, which means my life is constantly enriched by the curiosity and excitement of the young ones I mentor. Working with children has given me a unique perspective on bringing fun and sincerity to any celebration—no matter the size or theme.
